    Nox Failure this High...

My buddy sold me his festy after he had emessions done on it bc it was running like crap.... turns out they just retarded the timing way back.... his loss my gain
Nox Failure this high is caused by the Catalytic Converter. High Nox is the result of High combustion chamber temperatures. Advance Ignition Timing will raise the Nox but you're is really high.

Magnaflow makes direct bolt in replacement Cats and at a good price. You may still need to adjust the Ignition timing to stock settings.

On the car'b engine exhaust gas is recirculated into the cyclinders to reduce temperature and thus NOx. On the car'b engine you take of the EGR valve and clean it to cut NOx emissions after a test failure. I don't know what is used to cool the combustion chamber on the fuel injuected engine but that is what I would look for.

Cat with readings that high. Maybe timing if you've changed it a bit. Guaranteed to pass additive is a scam. They only 'guaranty' a perfect running, good condition engine with no other problems that may cause a failure. You can add methyl hydrate (gas line antifreeze) if you want.

I had the same problem. Turned out to be the O2 sensor wire has to be shielded. About 2 feet of the wire on my car wasn't due to many engine changes. Spliced in a piece of shielded wire and passed smog test no problem.

scribe a line so you know where timing was. Retarding timing will "wake up"
cats...sometimes! Put can of what ever in fuel, the extra o2 helps burn start
in cat. Drive hard for an hour and stop at testing station. If that dosn't wake up
the Cat, you need a new one.
