Does anyone know of a parts place that stocks head gaskets for the 1.3? I've tried Advance, Autozone, O'neills, Napa and the Korean bbq joint down on third. Zip. I might just pull it, clean it cut the seats and lap 'em in , put on some new stem seals, and wait for my mailbot to deliver. Anybody got any opinions as to stem seals, i.e. Teflon vs Buna N or whatever semi exotic rubber they're using these days. This thing sat for three years before I got it. I replaced the fuel pump, filter, washed the tank out w/purple stuff, blew dry and air dried, twice. Blew through all the lines. Pulled the cam cover, typical 160,000mi changed the oil three times, maybe. Took the baffle off and scraped off the 1/4" of waxy crap with a putty knife and finished w/varsol.
One thing I forgot was to check and see if the oil return holes were restrticted. I added some BP12 or whatever Sea Foams twice as strong, half as much uglier sister is. It smokes cold for the first few miles and then backs off about 90%. I noticed that it was pressuring the cooling system after only a few minutes so I pulled the plugs and pressurized the overflow tube for a few seconds, cranked it over and HtO shot out of #2. Plugs 3 & 4 are nice and brown, one is black, not wet and 2 has a wet side and misses if I don't loosen the cap when I park My question is , has anyone ever had one blow the head gasket, water to cyl. on #2 and also notice it was sucking oil from the same area. I don,t know where the pressure passage to the cam is gasket wise. If i could get a blowup of the head gasket I could tell. I'm just kinda hoping that the head gasket, valve job, stem seals might fix the oil consumption also. I've tried all the canned voodo I know of to unstick the oil rings if that was it. It smokes like it's just one cyl that has filled from sitting.
Any opinions?
