  • windshield problem

Last night the temp here plunged to about 50. This morning my perfect windshield had a vertical crack in the center starting at the bottom edge and running up about 10". Are windshields still available?

    phone around

I went to the junk yard and I was referred to a glass installer who just happened to have a PPG Festiva windshield sitting on a rack for many years.
Good luck with your local auto glass shops.

"Plunged to 50?" Better go grab that winter gear!

I was in Orlando ten days ago, where the TV weatherheads were hyperventilating because the wind chill had "plummeted" to 31F.

Be glad you're not in some garden spot like Fort Yukon, AK, where recent daily HIGH temps have been around MINUS 49F (-45C).

I have heard that if your windshield cracks your insurance will pay for a new one for safety reasons.

Through the insurance, you would most likely need to pay a deductable.

I would imagine most festys are insured under PLPD anyways and wouldn't be covered, but check!

My brother lives in Pennsicola and said that in Florida, the insurance companies down there have to get you a new windshield at no extra cost on your insurance, check it out.
