Festiva starts, then dies

I have been letting a friend drive one of my Festiva's for a few weeks now and he called me saying the car starts right up and then just stalls right out. I will be going over there tomorrow after work to take a look at it. I had him confirm the MAF was plugged in and the distributor was tight. There is also plenty of gas and a fresh battery in it. Just seeing what you guys think as I have plenty of parts at my house to bring with me. He's about 25miles away and would hate to have to come back for a part for it.

its a 89' fuel injected

tube from intake to air filter may have an air leak, this will let you start it but no idle.
will run if reved to a higher rpm..

I had the same problem on my 93GL. Found two broken vac lines on the plenum.
