so how much should i expect to pay for a used 5 speed transmission? my car is automatic and i want to convert it, what clutch kit thingy should i buy??? do i need to purchase anything else? I'm open to suggestions!

(i have a '92 festiva GL btw)

When I searched for one ,it was $350.00 with a 90 warranty from a salvage yard here in central Ill. I found some for less out of state but the shipping made up for what I was saving . I thought that was too high ,you should have some luck here looking for one, All parts stores carried a clutch for mine ,Reilly's ,Autozone,Advance ,all carried OEM if that's what you want, comes with everything clutch,PP,T/O brg,pilot brg ,and alignment tool

There is a lot more to swapping to a 5 speed. The axles are different, tranny mounts, pedals, clutch cable, shifter, flywheel, starter... It's a big job.

There's a wrecked Festiva at Southside Auto Parts on Cullen Blvd, near Beltway 8 in Houston.

The guy wanted $100 for the 5 speed transmission, which is more than likely good because the car was totaled in a wreck.

He might quote you a different price, though, since I'm a frequent customer at his junkyard and he gives me good deals.

here in st.louis the 5 speed goes for about 100.00 to 150.00 and you have to pull it.

Axles are different between 4 and 5 speed trans? Is that correct? I know auto to manual is different.
