  • g25??? need help identafying!

    My sponsor has a 1994 capri non turbo with a 1.8 bp.... I was wondering if it would have the g25 transmission she wants 250$ for the trans with axles, mounts, ect. Will this tranny be the same as the xr2? Will it hold up to the b6t?

    Yes it will hold a b6t easily. A F-series will hold a b6t easy too.

      Is it a g series tho? I have a f series in my parts car but was told it wouldint hold up.

        But to answer your question if it is an N/A Capri it should have the F series tranny Which should be enough for the b6t depending on future goal HP. I think in the article Nonamekid puts it at 140-180 max hp

          I'm gunna be around 220 hp is what I'm shooting for so I don't think the f will work.

            G5m-r and g25m-r trans. Ist there any benefit between the 2? And do they have the same casting size?

              Non turbo capri is a B6D, not a BP, unless its been swapped.
              91GL BP/F3A with boost
              13.79 @ 100, 2.2 60' on 8 psi and 155R12's

                It has been swapped. But I just want a tranny that will hold up to abuse bc I'm doing this swap once and I wanna do it right.

                  Every Capri sold had a 1.6L engine. Tranny's were different in the auto car, 5-speed car and the turbo car.

                  The engine was the same in the auto car and the N/A 5-speed car but different head and intake in the turbo car.

                    Ok so ... I'm not gunna get the f series tranny bc I alredy have one. I found a g5m-r from a 92 escort gt. 250$ and 1 yr warranty. 120,000 miles on it. What is the differnce between the g5m-r and the g25m-r?

                          You'll still need the intermediate shaft from a Capri XR2 (the turbo car) or one from a 323 GT

                              the g5mr is hyrdro (from escort gt,protege, kia sephia) g25mr ( mazda 323 gt, capri xr2) is cable. What i would recomend since your making the mounts i would get a g5mr from escort ect, they hold as much hp and are easier to find when it comes to replacing them. you will need to convert the hydro to cable operation but its pretty simple by drilling a hole in the clutch fork and using a longer cable. you will also need to use a xr2/323 gt half shaft and modify the mounting bracket to the block. once you do that it will be easier for you to replace the trans in the future, the trans are weak, manly the diff.
