  • New 1.3L engine needed? Fuel inj/carb swap

I know there's probably alot of old threads for this, but i live in a place with only dial up and surfing is excruciatingly slow. I think I will have to replace the carbed engine in my 89 festy. There's two major oil leaks and a vaccum/ carb problem that I don't feel like spending any more time and money on trying to fix. I'd love to swap out a fuel injected engine for the current carbed one and was wondering how difficult of an operation it is. I'd put a carbed engine also if I can find one nearby that's in good shape. Anyone have a festy engine in northern cali they want to sell? Any advice out there?

You can have mine for $40 or offer if you drive south, google says 2h 45mins. It has like 200k on it though, I only pulled it to put in the b6t. It's out of a 1991 one though, block is still the same right? I don't know what else you need for the carb to efi swap but i'll sell you anything else I pulled from my festiva that went along with the stock engine.

Edit: I have most the stuff on the list except for the fuel tank, inertia switch and wiring harness.

Heres a good list of what you'll need to swap over to EFI. http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/sh...8&postcount=16

I'll keep your offer in mind, Grey VW, thanks. Vallejo isn't very far. I still want to do some more research on the conversion. I'm getting a mechanic to look at the engine tomorrow to give me more of a professional diagnosis. If I can rebuild this one I will, but I'm not attached to it.
