REED Valve/Catalyst Port

Hello all,

I have a 1988 Festiva LX that leaks exhaust into the air cleaner. It is causing the car to idle badly and melt the air filter.The air filter is full of exhaust in one week of driving. The catalyst ports have cracked and broke inside the air cleaner. My local mechanic said that the only repair is to find a new air cleaner housing or block off the ports. Other than that the car runs great at 160K. Any help appreciated on means to solve this problem. Is there after market air cleaners available? Thanks

In responce to my posting the other day on the pulse air system/air control valve, does anyone have experience in removing or repairing these systems? Is there after market air cleaners that can replace the existing air cleaner. Thanks.

Since you are not in California you can change to the weber carb and eliminate most of the emissions equipment.

Isn't there a hard to find adapter required for the Weber?
