  • HELP! Need a Thermostat Housing 1990

I need some direction, hope someone here can help.
While changing a thermostat for a friend I broke the
thermostat housing on her 1990 Ford Festiva. I
can't seem to find one, Dealership was the last resort
and they could not even find one in their network.
    Where can I find one???
and what is the proceedure in tightening to reduce
the risk of breaking the new one?

PM Smedley, now, so she can put her hands on one this weekend!

BTW, it would be helpful if you put your location in your profile, as some one maybe close by and could lend a hand.

Go to User CP (top of the Page in the blue bar)
    Control Panel(left side of screen)
Edit Profile-scroll to bottom of page to location.

And or place a [WTB], after reading the rules for posting, in the For Sale/Wanted section.

Get one from the JY if possible. When installing it, make sure the thermostat hasn't slipped down to where it fell between the housing and the head. That might be why yours cracked.

tighten the bolts evenly. that is what breaks them, when you crank down on one before the other.

It cracks bc the thermostat has slipped down in the housing, causing uneven mounting surface and it will crack. My roomate has done it twice bc he didn't listen to me. U would have to really overtorque it to break it otherwise.

The part number for the thermostat cover is E8BZ-8592-B. Good luck.
