i check the alignment marks on the timing so i know its right an i am getting spark on all the plugs an i took them off an checked one at a time so i didnt get the wires messed up ( ive done that an felt like a fool ) i had got it to turn over an run for about a minute but it literally felt like the car was gonna rattle apart it was shaking so bad with the sputter cough shake thing going on

im sorry if my description isnt too good ......the VAF seems to be working an not stuck shut im gonna go recheck the rotor to see if its in the wrong position now .....grabbing the haynes manual an going back outside .....at this point now i kinda hope it turns out to be somthing simple i have missed

an thank you to everyone who is trying to help me out it is greatly appreciated

if you have spark then the IGN modual is good. make sure your rotor is pointed where it should be as it can be placed in 3 different positions (2 of which won't let the car run). the other thing is: are your plug wires in the right position? as for the timing being correct, how did you verify that?

it takes 4 things for an engine to run: air, fuel, spark, compression. if you have all of them then your not getting fuel or spark at the correct time or correct proportion. sounds like an ignition module or perhaps your VAF sensor (vane air flow). if it is not reading the correct amount of air entering the engine it will tell the PCM to deliver the wrong amount of fuel (ie. starting but running really rough). see if you can get them tested or replace with a know good one and go from there. hope this helps

ok the timing seems to be right ..i have fuel an spark an it cranks jus fine but she wont fire im at a loss right now been fooling with it all day got the haynes manual right here an i have been using the " search feature " on the site the only thing i havent got to test is the ignition module an i dont have a spare 100 bucs to go pick one up right now ....so do you think its most likely the one thing i cant do an the IGN module has failed

i have 167ooo miles on the car an my last festy was a 91 an i put around 400 thousand on it an never had a failure like this i only did routine stuff oil plugs belts tires that car ran like a swiss watch ..im jus really frustrated right now sorry for venting

it's got to be mechanical then, go after your timing belt first and look for missing teeth and proper timing, then do a compression check. should be over 120psi cold

    do you have spark?
    do you have fuel pressure?
is the rotor (under dizzy) pointed in the right direction? it can be put in 3 positions.
    is the cam rotating?

For the links, check for corrosion and replace with plug in fuse type from McParts store.
As for the module, if you have another disty laying around or can get your hands on one, switch it out and see if it starts.

Is the fuel pump running? Is the "roolover" switch poped? Mine poped all the time from bumos and I wound up zip tying it down.

Okay, so it cranks. Do you have spark? At the dizzy, at the plugs? If you're cranking, I doubt it's the fusible links. Tho, it wouldn't hurt to check them for corrosion/moisture. Have you done anything to the car lately?
