  • Heater Question

    All -

I've got an '88 L where the heater blows on settings "2" and "3" but not on "1".

Anyone else ever had this problem?

Looked at my shop manual and I can't tell if this is the heater motor blower switch or the blower resistor. Am I out in la-la land?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

it's the blower resistor failing, you'll need to locate a replacement. my '88LX does the same thing.
    Trees aren't kind to me...

    currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

Could be the resistor or the switch. If you have the Haynes I believe it gives the resistance values to check the resistor pack. My MX6 lost 4, then 3, then 1 and all I had left was two. Took the switch apart and cleaned the contacts (after the resistor pack tested good) and it works like new again. But thats not to say that its not the resistor pack, I've had a few of those fail as well on various cars. The point is to properly diagnose the problem before throwing parts at it
      No festiva for me ATM...
