  • Crankshaft bolt....

Okay today was the fifth time i've had to tightened this darn bolt.. holds on the bottom timing gear/pulleys. The last time I stuck a pair of clampons on the outer pulley.. stopped it pretty good and I know I got it tight. This time I had the old lady press of the brake while I used a long breaker bar but I know it's going to come loose again. Do I need to use thread locker I really dislike using that junk since I'll have to remove that bolt eventually.

    hello ericsmith32!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thought you didn't like us anymore????

and you going to really hate me.

    to answer your question anyway,

if you remove your starter(on a manual trans) and hold the flywheel via prybar, you should be able to torque it down to 80-85 ft/lbs.

if it comes loose again, use threadlock.

Bah I don't and ever hate anyone.. just hate listening to a few. Hmm the first time I tightened it was out of the car with a prybar on flywheel. Removing the starter and all that junk sounds like alot of work. Guess i'll try that junk the next time and see if it works if not time to remove the starter. Thanks mechanicaldj
