  • Weird clunk behind glove box. / Horn

Havn't figured this one out yet. When you close either door, there's a strange
"clunk" sound coming from behind the glove box. Not super important, just weird. Also, to access the horn buttons remove the 2 phillips? screws on the back of the wheel? Horn button on the left works, right side doesn't. Thanks!

"clunk" sound could be the climate control recirculation door banging around in the little box up behind the glove box

yes, steering wheel center trim off, gives you access to horn buttons

When you close the door, a little bit of pressure builds up in the cabin of the car.

Usually, the vents on either side of the hatch (when it's open, you can see them) let the pressure out when the doors are slammed.

Of course, the pressure is going to take the easiest road out and that might just be something in the HVAC under the dash. It might flap a flapper and make the clunk you hear.

As for the horn, yes... Two screws on the back of the steering wheel pull off the front plastic. The horn buttons are attatched to that plastic and, as long as you know basic circuits, you can figure out where the right switch isn't making contact.

crazyrog17 - You were right on the inside pressure. Crack a window,no clunk.

Need to install a pressure vent. Do not buy it on eBay. just go to any yard. Lots of Ford Foci.

I took off the two screws and cleaned the contact points with sandpaper. There is a piece that comes out, and one that is under it over a spring. Clean both sides of this piece because there is usually rust. This was not my horn problem but it might be yours. I hear a clicking noise when press the buttons so the relay is working (under the left side panel by the steering wheel) and I have brake lights so the fuse (STOP) is good. I just have no horn noise, so I am going to try to get the horn off (under the passenger side headlight behind the bumper and try to clean the ground area the horn bolts onto with sandpaper. It is NOT easy to get to ... this is the original horn so it may just be so corroded it doesn't work anymore ... we'll see!
