  • Collecting parts for my front end conversion

Couple of quick questions concerning parts for converting my Festy front brakes to an Aspire brake system. (I'm not using a Donor Aspire)

    1) Front wheel bearings inner/outer are they the same part number? Rock auto only shows one part number that says you only need 2 per vehicle. This cant be right, you need 4 per vehicle correct???
    2) Are the front hoses's the same for left and right? I say yes....
    3) Does anybody use the ROTOR shims for adjusting rotor runout?
    4) Has anyone run the DORMAN lca's ? They look sweet for the price???
    5) Has anyone had trouble finding new ASPIRE hubs & spindles? I gotta find some & I'm not fond of wrecking yards. Remind me to tell you why if you wanna her the biggest cluster *#@* story ever. PEACE & thanks in advance. Thomas-

the bearing is part # BR11 and you need 4 to do both sides (2 each).

if you have rotor runout, cut or replace them, you shouldn't have to use shims.

havn't had issues with Dorman parts before...

new hubs can be found, but you have to get the knuckles from a doner car... i have yet to find NEW knuckles for either festy or aspire.
    Trees aren't kind to me...

    currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

You the Man Festboy ! Or should I say you the Boy? Thanks a bunch Bro-
I asked about the shims cuz I saw them along with caliper shims on rock auto. And thought they were maybe manditory.... I'll be using new rotors so I should be dialed.

Make sure you get the Festiva LCA's and not the Aspire.

^^^ That's correct... Festiva LCA's and Aspire tie rod ends. I think there's an option of using a Ford Escort tie rod end but I'm not sure. Apparently one is cheaper than the other.

Yes it appears you can use the Escort LX outers. They may have to be shortened a tad. They are half the price. I have a PM sent to Safety Guy,whom I think is running them.

there are a fair amount of people that use the escort outer TRE's and they are slightly different but I've never compared the escort vs aspire.

as far as the LCA's go, the aspire's are a bit longer and will pull the axles out of the tranny. just in case you're wondering, lol.
