  • Car Running bad

Yesterday morning of wad chilly outside and damp. I warmed up the car a little. Got on interstate and the car topped out at 55mph. I slowed down on the side of word and the car went faster so I got back on the road and went 70 to work. Sometimes I hear a clicking coming from the foot area. Can the clutch switch or a relay by my feet cause the car to stumble or top out at 55 ?

Clutch interlock is only for cranking so no it should not affect system when ignition switch is in run. Are you sure the clicking isnt coming from under the left dash? Thats where the fuel pump relay is. Intermitat elect problems can be a real pain. You night just want to replace that relay. Its what gives your fuel pump power all the time. Thats the first thing that comes to mind.

I lived 8 miles from work, speed limit was 45mph, all secondary twisting turning roads in Mississippi. But, if I popped it into neutral, it would drop idle and try to die and then it would ramp itself back up to well over high idle then stumble around on the way down to below idle again. All the while I heard that clicking from under the dash on the left side of the firewall.

Should be doing it at idle? Unless a bad connection is getting jarred when car in motion?

The clicking o hear is by my feet. Randomly. Would a mechanically fuel pump have fuse relay?

It's hard to type and drive.
Also I heard the click this morning and noticed my shift light blink on for a second. Then I notice later on my check engine light flicker. I'm getting depressed.
