Auto trans vacuum line plastic bead thing?

I pulled the vacuum line coming off the trans-axle coming up to the throttle body thingy and noticed there was something in the line. I took a wire and ran it through the hose to clear it and a brown plastic bead with a large hole on one side and a small hole on the other fell out the hose.. Anyone know what this thing is or if it's important?

that's a vaccum restrictor, it delays the application of vaccum to the trans, you need it in there!!
