tranny problem again

93 Festiva L mtx 5 spd. Gears are not engaging, currently stuck in first gear. What could be the cause? Checking level of fluid to see if that's the problem.
Whats the bolt size down at the speedo cable?

its suck IN first gear? check your linkage...is it hooked up? broken?

yes its in first and shifter will not come back out but it still rolls like its not in gear and the linkage on what shifter or clutch?

and make sure the rubber surround is solid

i had a guy check it out and he could find anything outside of it so he gonna open it up monday and have a look is there a difference between an 88 and a 93 mtx friend works with a guy who sellin whole car 300 just needs a batt and theres a leak in gas tank i was just gonna use for parts and he says its a 5 spd

wait!!!!!!!!

an 88 usually had a 4 speed

unless it an LX, then it might have a 5 speed

check it before he pulls it

and for what is wrong in your trans, is most likely the shift gate , it will break in 2 spots if the trans was abused.

you might still be able to get a new one from ford, if you do have someone reinforce the new part with some new welds where the old one broke

whats the shift gate useually cost. i still might get the 88 just to have another festy dont know where ima park it though got 2 cars 2 trucks a minivan and a motorhome in the driveway now all but mh and my truck are running

Not very expensive but you need to take the tranny apart to change. I had one go out in 1993 but the car was still under warranty so it was free. The bill would have been $500+
