  • Water Pump, Thermostat, Fan Belt

    Hi all,

I have got some parts coming in to replace some problem areas on my 91L.

I'm a bit of a mechanical dunce, but will have a friend with more hands on experience than me helping me out to do these things.

Can anyone shed some light or point me to some write ups for any of the following.

    - Water Pump
    - Thermostat
    - Fan Belt
    - Plu & Wires

    Any help appreciated.

Buy the Haynes manual for starters. That'll tell you most of what you want to know.

If you're doing the water pump, might as well do timing belt and tensioner, and the cam seal. And get the disty seal, just on general principles, since it's a common leak source as it hardens.

Those are generic items covered in most DIY car repair manuals at the public library or on the Internet. You could also try typing them one-by-one into the search feature of this website to see what has been posted here before. Click on "search" in the menu bar at the top of this web page.

Make sure you get the dual stage t-stat. I don't think mine has it and in this 100+ weather we've had, it barely gets off of C.

Exactly lol. I'll have to ask a mod with real powers to do it because o don't know how many times I've been asked for that write-up.
