  • Question about ("repaired") gas leak

So I recently received help in replacing my leaky brake line, but in the process we discovered something else.

It turns out that I had a very small pinhole in a gas line as well. Since I currently have very little money and we needed a quick fix, we went ahead and patch it up nicely with some (gas/fuel tank) putty. It hardened up like cement and appears as though it will hold just fine. My mechanic friend said it would.

But again, for those of you who've read my posts, you ought to know that I have NO experience with automobiles (but i'm gladly learning hehe).

And now comes the basic question. What do you all think about this?
Will it hold, or ought I invest in getting it repaired properly? As I already said, the hole was the size of a pin prick, which seemed easy enough to seal off.

    Thoughts?

    Thankee for the time!

Lolol, is electrical tape really going to aid the putty which is already in place? Or is that a joke? Ha ha

a joke of course, E-tape that contacts fuel looses its adhesive. i would keep an eye on that spot and look for weaping around the edge of the repair. unless the line was dry when you patched it, i wouldn't expect it to hold very long.

If it starts leaking again, get one of those compact tubing cutters (they're about 2" square) and cut out the bad part and repair it with a piece of fuel hose. Put 2 clamps on each end of the hose.

Something else to keep in mind is if your gas line is rusted bad enough to have a pin hole leak, it could get another (even worse) leak somewhere else in the line. If it were my car, I would replace the line with a new one.
          You gonna race that thing?

Make sure you use fuel hose rated for fuel injection.
