  • Buzzer after bumpy road!

    Hey all,

It is very strange, but I after over a year of owning my Festiva, and NEVER once hearing a warning buzzer, I am getting the buzzer going off both randomly and at startup. It started when I drove for about an hour on a heavily pot-holed service (gravel) road. Now ever since, I have had a buzzer when I start up, when I open the door, etc......

Where exactly is the buzzer, and how do I disconnect this horrible thing, lol!

Pics would really help, but if not, a really detailed description of where to disconnect the buzzer, as I am not that great with this stuff.....

    Thanks!

Do you have the tach cluster? It has a "headlights on" warning buzzer that may be acting up. But it's a different sound than the "doors open" or "startup" buzzers. Now I can't really remember if there is a "doors open" buzzer. My Aqua car has no buzzers except for the tach cluster since I swapped seatbelts and left a lot of horrid wiring under the carpet to rot.

Maybe under the dash?? Just try poking your head down there and turning the key, listen intensely, then eliminate

That happened to me when I got a new ignition switch. there is a wire going to the ignition that can be disconnected to stop it. Could try taking the plastic covers off of the steering column and experiment with that. Sorry I can't remember exactly which wire, seems like it was smaller than the others, there may have been two.

^^ Man, I bet that IS annoying. I unplug them in everything I drive. Like McNasty says, I usually just listen to pinpoint where it's coming from and then unplug it. I'm not sure about the Festy because mine has never worked but on many cars it just a little box under the dash somewhere. I'm sure someone on here can give you the exact location and the procedure for disconnecting it

I just unhooked mine about 4 months ago. IIRC it is just barely to the right of the steering column, a few inches from the firewall. Very easy to see if you pop your mug down there. It is connected to a bracket that it if very difficult to remove from from the angle you will be at. I just yanked and twisted until the buzzer bracket (the buzzer itself) cracked. Unplug and discard. It is about 2.5" x 4".

This is all from memory of a part I really don't care about so memory is very foggy. Happy buzzer hunting.

Like Zanzer said, make it come on then search for it. Trust me you will find it a lot quicker just because by the time you find it you will want to yank it out just to shut it up. lol have fun
