  • '88 electrical; 4th gear switch function?

I've been searching the archives here regarding tranny swaps.

I want to replace my 4 speed with a 5 speed Festiva tranny. It's a direct swap.

I could not find any information about the 4th gear switch that sends a signal to the ECM. I guess this switch just tells the computer to de-activate the "shift-up" light. If that's all it does, I won't even try to put it on the 5 speed.

Does it serve any other function?

Don't know it's function but looking in the Haynes manual wiring diagrams it only shows up in the 88-89 carburetted engine. Don't know if they offered a 5-speed in 88-89. Hope that helps.
