Any way to tighten the ball & socket on the inside rear view mirror w/o taking it apart?
    Something like an "anti-lubricant?"

Just last night I tried to switch an Aspire rear view mirror on to a Festiva arm and bracket. Can't be done. On a Festy the ball and socket joint is held by 2 small screws which are quite visible once you remove the frame cover plate with a prying item and then undo the two mounting screws that hold the whole mirror assembly on to the roof. With everything in your hand you can then play with the ball and socket screws. If need be slip in a shim or some such. If that fails let me know and I'll retrieve a perfectly good Aspire mirror and frame from the garbage can so you can experiment some more.

I wrote about this once before. Just substitute a Kia Spectra mirror. It fits right on the Festiva ball. I personally prefer my Mercedes Smart mirror. It has a great view out the back hatch.
