  • Rusted bolt holes in block...

When I put the motor from a 91 Festiva in the Aspire the problem I had the most was that the bolts holes for the ac brackets were rusted.. and of course the bolts didn't like it. A couple I used PB Blaster on a few and just work it in a out.. a few that didn't work. Is there a good way of cleaning them out.. or do I need to redrill and tap (never done it before)?

You could probably just use a tap and clean the holes up without having to drill them.

More than likely a thread chaser or a thread tap would work fine to clean out your rusted holes. Just remember not to rush it and take your time when you use them

If you buy a tap get a bottoming tap. This best to get the last threads cleaned out.

Hydrochloric acid ,, it'll dissolve any rust... and it's cheap , about $2 per gallon... if you don't have a pool store near you goto Walmart,, they're starting to stock their seasonal aisle with pool equipment right now...
