just doesn't want to. is it fixable or do i need to change the tranny? i just put new gear oil in it when i replaced the engine stock b3 and tranny.

Just out of curiosity. What type of gear oil did you use? Did you use an actual gear lube or the recommended ATF? As for your problem it sounds more like something in the shift linkage is binding or hitting something. Crawl under there and take a look at whats going on when you have someone shift through the gears

Reverse is a spur gear, much more coarse then the others and subsequently sometimes doesn't hit just right, if that's not the case it could be the shifter linkage or some damage in the tranny.

Yes our transmissions whether auto or 5 speed use ATF for lube
