  • constant whistle / squeel while driving..

So i've noticed lately there is a constant noise coming from the passenger side while I am driving.

It basically sounds like brake squeek, only its constant while im driving and lessens as I slow down.

Is this likely some issue with my brakes? If so, where do i start?

I have what I think is possibly the same thing though it is on the Drivers side of mine. If I steer, no kidding, 1 degree to the left or ever so slightly touch the brake pedal it stops. I can't figger it out though. Sounds like your issue too.

if your car is doing that and is lacking it power it could be an exhaust restriction somewhere. I had an aspire that whistled. something made a nest in the muffler... then died... shook it out for a few hours and it ran great ever since.

Could be the brake pads aren't sitting correctly inside the calipers. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe you could also have a bearing issue.

I'm going back to the alternator bearings being bad. How's your belt holding up?

If it squeals at idle (rev the engine) it would be the alternator or belt. If it squeals when the brake is applied it would be the brake. If the squeal changes with speed it could be wheel bearings.

no squeal at idle at the moment, i do have some brake squeal also.. but this is ongoing without revs, brakes or anything... Yes it does change with speed... maybe bearings then, any other things to look for with bearings?

inspect your pads and their squeeler tabs.
