in my 1990 festiva my friends honda civic key will unlock my door is that something that i need to take a look at or is that just normal for other car keys to open car doors

Normal on the festiva's. The tumblers wear out. Quite a few people on here have that problem also.

i have a 1993 festiva and went to the junkyard to find a hatch lock and key i did an experiment and put my 93 key in the junkyard hatch lock and it worked. did not have to use an extra key to use the lock.

If it's wore like most are, you can use just about anything to open it. I can unlock mine with a screwdriver(the driver's side anyway. The passenger side doesn't get used much so you still need a key for that one as well as the hatchback).

Many Festiva owners with more than 1 Festiva have found the same key will work on their other Festivas. Both of mine can use the same key!
