I think this has been covered before, but I can't find it. I'm going to replace my CV axles but I need to know what size the nut is. I don't want to just go buy a lot of different metric sockets. Any other advice concerning CV replacement would be appreciated. I'm not a mechanic... :blob8:

1 1/8 = just under 29mm (less than .5mm)
1 3/16 = 30mm (just over at 30.16mm)Last edited by FestYboy; 08-06-2011, 11:28 PM.Trees aren't kind to me...

All
I used a 29 that I bought for less then $10 at a mcparts store. It worked but now I can't get the lower ball joint to come off so I can't get the axle out. It's loose and all but I'm not sure what I have to do to get that !@$#@$# lower ball joint to pop out. I bought a pickle fork and loosen the stabilizer bar on both sides but.... no luck yet. Any advice???92 Festiva (since 6/23/2011!)http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/im..._surprised.gif

Leave the sway bar bolted up, get a long piece of pipe. Use the pipe to pry from the frame near the lower control arm mount down against the swaybar or lower control arm. Push down on it with your knee and move the knuckle to the side with your hands when it pops out.

Thanks
I'll go look for a pipe. I can see where having a little more torque than my pickle fork can give would help. Pickle fork can only move it down a little just not all the way out.92 Festiva (since 6/23/2011!)http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/im..._surprised.gif
