  • I have a gas problem!

I did the cam seal this past week. Some stumbling and trouble idling. I got the idling fixed and now a little stumbling. Today was my first day back at work and I'm using twice as much gas. What might be wrong? Timing?

Still using gas. I'll adjust timing this weekend. Still leaking oil after changed cam oil seal. What else? Crankshaft seal?

Take the timing cover off and check the alignment again....sounds like you are off a tooth or more. Had the same problem...2 teeth off...moved and fixed it right up.

Don't drive it with rich condition. Raw fuel will dilute oil from cylinder walls. Also don't drive with suspect belt alignment.

Is it possible to have the cam 180 degrees off form the crankshaft?

^^ Unless someone has messed the drive tabs on the end of the distributor that shouldn't be an issue. One tab should be wider than the other so the dizzy is clocked and only installs one way.

Trying to fix timing. I noticed cam twice to the cranks once. If those two are off 180 will it still run? I'm just trying to fix this car. I'm getting mad at it.

if cam is 180 off it will not run, if dizzy is off 180, it MAY run, but like absolute crap. make sure crank notch is at 12 o'clock and the cam notches are at 12 and 3 o'clock. if those are correct, the rotor should be at the 11 o'clock position as you look at it. dizzy should be at about the center of the slot position and the red dashed vac line should be at the BOTTOM port.
