dome light w/ map light

Installed dome light today. Map lights work. Dome light works when door is open. Dome light doesn't light when switched to the on position. Could switch not making contact, or maybe bad switch, or maybe wrong bulb? Should bulb have 2 filaments,1 for when the door is open and another for the on position?

your problem lies in your switch not making proper contact

Thanks for the info. Also I noticed that if you turn on both map lights the dome light comes on. Is this normal?
