  • Auto choke gets stuck on

    I have a 93 WA Festiva

I let it warm up for a while (5mins +) but sometimes as im driving the auto choke comes back on and gets stuck

its really annoying, and my friend seems to think we can convert it to a manual choke, but before i do that is there anything else i can do to stop it from getting stuck ????

    thanks

spray the linkages with WD-40. also if you give the car a spurt of gas (tap on the pedal) that could release the choke. when my car is first started I wait 10 sec and give it a burst of gas to release the choke. works on my carburetted '89. don't know if it's good for fuel injected models.

^^ He's in Australia, they were still getting carbies in 93.
If a hammer doesn't fix it you have an electrical problem

          He said FI models
I think there have been a couple of misreads, lol, I think bravekozak said something about a manual choke option one time

My buddy has the same problem with his, we found the problem. His butterfly valve on the carb for the air intake kept sticking, had to lightly tap it with a screw driver to make it stop idling really high. Hope that helps...
