  • Carb Screw Question - ever pulled your carb off?

Anyone that has pulled the carb on an equivalent to an '88 festy LX MTX can answer this one for me... are all of the #12-28 threaded screws that hold it on (that's what I gaged them at) the same length?

I pulled the air filter and assy. off and found a missing screw, likely causing a vacuum leak and a funky idle.

There was also a spring just laying in one of the primaries - yikes.

I'd like to replace all of the mounting screws, but my manual isn't here yet and I don't know the answer to this question.

    Thanks in advance!

are you talking about the 5 screws that secure the top cover (air horn) of the carb to the bowl (main body)? They're 6mm x 1.00 I believe, and I think they're all the same length. And yes, that can cause a significant air leak internal in the carb.

No, these are the ones that hold the carb to the mani I believe - will check tonight to confirm.

But seriously, anyone got a clue if they are or not?

I believe it sits on four studs and is secured by four nuts. I rebuilt my carb about 3 months ago and I can only remember 4 studs. Hope this helps.

It was one of the screws that holds the air horn to the bowl... I got some from a fastener supply place but the threads were slightly wrong

I'd like to get a weber on there eventually... I e-mailed FMS re: kits with no reply as of yet.

Sorry - 6mm - 1.00 is what I'm going to try next; initially I thought it was a screw that held the carb to the Mani - thanks!
