I would suspect igntion module, coil, then distributor. In that order. And yes, the 93 festiva is OBDI
    No festiva for me ATM...

I wouldnt' buy a new ignition module before taking the one that's in the car out and getting it tested for free at an auto parts store.
Where are you testing for spark, at the spark plug, or at the distributor, or at the coil, or at the fusable link, or at the battery??

If you ground the single wire by the master cylinder w/ ign on it will blink the code. No need for scanner.

I'm testing for spark, at the spark
plug, and at the Coil on the high
vltge cable to, closs to ground.

          I changed the igntion module
          ( a used-one ) and cleaned the
          VAF with CRC e-cleaner, and
the car started but after +_ 15
          miles of driving, the engine
          stoped again.

looks to me like an intermitent
problem, but to test each part
is kind of hard, I live clos to a
          small city (Tilammok), we have
          3 parts dealers only, &driving
my Bicycle to there +_ 9 mile
one way takes me the hall day
          at my 75 yr-old.

That's why I'm trying to get
most most of the parts by Mail.

I'm not to good on short&long
          flashes counting but that will
be my next step to try if I dont
          find an OBD1, 93 Festiva
          compatible; I ordered the
          EQUUS 3145 OBD1, but didn't
fit my 6-pins connector, and I
can't find a convesion for that.

          Does anybody Know the Exact
brand and model # of an OBD1,
          festiva 93 compatible???
Tanks all of you that gave to me
some more ideas to keep trying,
and, scuse my way of expaining
the problem, I'm doing my best.

There is no commercially avaiable OBD1 scan tool for the Festiva. The last scan tool sold for the Festiva was the proprietary NGS SuperSTAR II, and it also required a special adapter to fit the Festiva. The OEM shop manual specifies grounding the STI terminal and counting the flashes as the preffered method of code retrival. Now, if the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp, or Check Engine light) is NOT on when you drive, then will most likely NOT get any codes. There are only a few codes that will set without turning on the MIL.

If there's no spark between the coil and distributor it's not the distibutor or ignition module. If there is spark between the coil and distributor and it's intermittent I'd suspect a failing ignition control module. It's a shame you can't get it tested because they cost $150 here. I'd call one of the auto parts stores in the nearest city which does teh free test and ask if I can send it in the mail with return postage. Only because I'm so cheap. The test machine prints out the results so they can include that when they return the module.
