  • I suck at cars.

I honestly suck at working on cars, I can't get things right. I've struggled just to get to the 14's while most people with similar mods are in the 13's. And after tonight I'm heading back towards 16's territory.

Here is the problem. I can't rev past 6,500 rpms! And any time after 5,000 rpms there is no power. The boost is there but the power is not. It climbs really slowly from 6,000 to 6,500 then at 6,500 it sounds like a cross between hitting the limiter and it breaking up. That is how everything started but by the end of the night I had trouble getting to 6,000 rpms. Thing is that in neutral it revs like normal but in gear it's not having it. I just got back from the track so I haven't done any troubleshooting except for turning off the boost controller.

I am determined to do whatever it takes to finally run a 13 and I won't give up but I just took a major step backwards tonight. A wideband will be the first thing I will order as soon as I scoop up a bit of cash.

I'd appreciate any help or guesses to what the problem may be. I have a rocketman ecu and the the turbo makes 14 psi.

Over boost sensor or plug gap. If you are pushing more boost then u need to change your plug gap, otherwise you will get spark blow out at higher boost. Also make sure your timing is correct cause it can cause your car to not run 100%.

How much boost are you running? Are you running a chip?

4000-5000rpm especially in my 2nd gear my engine is 1.3 b3 mazda no modifications...

I think that's normal for a 1.3? peak torque is not near redline.

OP has a B6T swapped car that he suspect is not running correctly.

you might want to upgrade your fuel pump if you havent already. Or replace it with a new one..

hows your clutch? Pretty new ebay stage 2 is holding fine
timing?12* I haven't touched it since getting it smogged
                plugs? stock replacement ngk
plug gap? .035. I had them at .042 before.
                wires? new house brand wires
cap? replaced when I did a tune up
rotor? also replaced when I did a tune up
Fuel pump is a walbro 255 in tank.

I am running 14 psi with a rocketman ecu. The overboost sensor has been unplugged via the vacuum hose. Should it also be unplugged by wire?

What should I try to set my timing at ideally?

Leave the timing at 12 degrees 10-12 is where it should be. Unplug the sensor. Maybe take the plug down a little bit more. I run mine at .32 Eurotiva said he runs his at .27. the more boost the less gap.

Strange but make sure you run with a full tank of gas . Both of my turbo cars broke up anything below half tank . It seemed like the tank wouldn't vent correctly mine would slam badly at times . And make sure your vaf is level . Also maybe take some pictures and someone might be able to see a problem . We have to get this car down to at least 14 . Anything you might need part wise let me know ill hook you up .
New build on the way .

Sounds like poor fuel delivery to me. Anytime it revs great under "no load". But then is sluggish & lacking power, but not having electrical spark "miss". Always look to your fuel system first. Start at the filter...... is it new? next Fuel press reg then fuel pump. Hope this helps-
