I have a 1991, 1.3L efi Festiva that I'm in the process of rebuilding the motor in. The lifters cleaned up well and seem to be in good shape. however the problem that I'm having is that each lifter has a o ring seal on it that didn't fare very well. I'm hoping that some one can tell me where i can buy replacement o ring's to keep from having to buy the whole lifters to go back in my motor. At around 14.00 each it seems like a shame to have to replace them over bad o ring's. I hope some one has had some experience with this problem and can offer me a solution. Thanks.

I always think that there's gotta be somewhere that sells "that part" much cheaper than "said price" and I end up wrong sometimes. lol. I wish I knew the size of the o-ring for you and we could search around for some
you know what...let me get in touch with someone that just did an engine build. They may come with the full rebuild gasket set.
welcome to the site

rock auto has the lifters for $7 and change....I know it is more then an o-ring but that is a lot cheaper then most places."FLTG4LIFE" @FINALLEVEL , "PBH"

I was hoping new o rings would have came with the kit that i ordered but they didnt. There kinda odd sized. O rings for most things are usually not very expensiv. Geneva Dirt suggested rock auto. I checked them out. Thats a lot more reasonable for replacement lifters. I will give it a day or so before i do any thing just to see what other suggestions i get. Thank you both for your information and replying to my post.

george, you don't need to trim anything. you need to turn the crank until it clears. I believe TDC 1 will do it but I'll have to confirm next time I pull my VC
Michael, I'm going over to skeeters today (in the next hour) and that's who I'm going to see if he has any spares.

I should have some spares laying around, I'll measure them to see what size they are - you should be able to get just the o-ring, it'd be much better than re-using old ones. I don't think I've ever seen then come with a re-build kit though. What should have come with the re-build kit are the o-rings for the fuel injectors, and I'd recommend replacing those. I ended up doing three of them on the side of the road after smelling fuel dripping on my CAT... scary :p
And yep, no need to do anything to the VC, just move the crank around till the rockers drop low enough for the cover to slide off. There's a reason it hasn't been discussed much here.~Nate

You can get o-ring kits in metric and standard sizes just like nuts or sockets. We have these kits at work. Let me see if I can get you a part number. You do have a autozone locally dont you>?89L build thread http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=36422

About the throttle body surgery: I was unable to get a wrench on my late '93 pulley without lowering the motor. I might have been able to turn it with the fan belt, but I didn't know at the time it could be lined up for VC removal. Anyway, I'll be able to save a step for gasket or HLA work.

I really appraciate all the information that evervone has given me on my lifter problem. I will check with my local autozone to see if those o ring kit's contain anything that small. Hope they do. If not rock auto sounds like a good place to just get replacements at a fair price. Thank's to all of you.
