91 GL tranny slip

Ok I have a 91 GL auto a/c power steering with only 83,xxx miles. My girl friend drives this car and said it has been slipping when she takes off well she says goes into neutral and wont go just revs up. So i am asking to see if any one else has had this problem and might have a idea what it may be. I have not checked the fluid in it yet going to do that in a few mins and ordered a filter kit for it so will change it if is full. Any help is greatly appreciated.

check the PRNDL switch and make sure that the select cable hasn't stretched. i'm thinking the trans isn't seeing Drive being selected.
