    My cry for help.

I have always had some blow-by, and blowing oil on my valve cover. I kept it in check with regular cleaning/replacement of my PVC valve.
But over the weekend I put in new cam and crank seals. Well ....now its REALLY blowing out my breather filter. I mean BADLY. Its ok as long as I am driving on the street, but on the highway with the higher RPM's, its blowing like a whales blowhole! I have a cone breather filter on my valve cover air inlet. It is blowing out the breather filter onto the v. cover.
    Here's my question:
I'm thinking about an oil catch can on the breather. Where/How should I put it, so I still get air into the v. cover? I'm thinking to put the breather filter on a "tee" in line with the catch can somehow? Or maybe directly on top of the catch can?
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance and here are pics of present set-up:

Notice the breather filter on the r/h side of the v. cover.

The proper thing to do (as I think you know) is to plumb it to the carb's air filter housing. That's why you have the little hole at the bottom of the housing and the 90-degree plastic elbow.

Second pic looks very nice BTW.....

Yes, it would work, but i'm not wanting to really pump that oil into the air filter. My car already smokes without adding to it! LOL
Rather a container, like a catch can.
I may try a hose from v. cover to air filter to see how well it works. Cant hurt, right Tom?
        Thanks for the compliment, too.
It would stay better looking if it wasnt coated in oil everyday.

But directing the oil to the air filter will burn it up in the combustion process. I wouldn't think it would cause more smoke at the exhaust.

But what we really need to address here is why it comes out so much. Maybe the PCV isn't doing its job as well as you think?

Well if rev'd really high, it just blows lots of smoke out the tailpipe. I am thinking it is worn rings, and blowing past rings into crankcase, pressurizing it. Thus once pressurized, oil comes out any way it can. It tripled the amount coming out the v. cover breather, when I put in the new cam/crank seals in.
The breather is now the path of least resistance.
Highway speeds and high RPM's is when it does it.

I've wondered about this too. Bravekosack had suggested using a different port into the intake than the one on the side of the intake manifold, for the PVC. I think he suggested the EGR port.

Replace B3 motor with gen1 B6. Re-use intake manifold and Weber.

Anyway, just changed the "rig" on the v. cover. Used a piece of aquarium tubing and a piece of the original 90 degree tubing to make it from the v. cover to the air cleaner on the Weber. Needed to be longer to reach the small air cleaner on the weber. See how well it works on my way to work in the morning on the highway. Test drove it around a little to see if it would stay on. So far, so good.

I've been milking it like a cow! Still runs strong, but I fear the rings, and what not have seen better days!
Not to fear for long my friends!
A new engine shall arise this dark winter, reborn with clevite bearings, and pistons and rings that gleam in the moonlight, to rest upon newly bored and honed cylinder walls!
A beast shall appear, first to the ears, as the whine of turbos and high rpms fill the air, then suddenly it is seen! A great thunderous beast, gleaming as it crests the hill, approaching ominously from the west with the sun at its back, it suddenly stops! Curiousity rising as to what this is, and why it has stopped mounts, as it suddenly roars to life! A great noise flows forth as it screams down the hill, the momentum turning it to a blur as speeds toward its target just ahead and ....

...what...did I fall asleep? ....I must have been dreaming again! Ha!
