What did the rest of the engine look like? Was there a lot of carbon build-up on the pistons and in the ring lands? Does the block have a lot of ring groove or taper?

Everything looks great, barely any carbon on the rings, block is not tapered or out of round. I'm wondering it may have been due to overheating. When I bought it had just had the head replaced so yes, probably overheated. I wasn't able to salvage the pistons from my spare motor (high mileage and the ring groove clearance was a good bit too high) but I'm supposed to be getting some from Jerry (BeBandit) tomorrow so maybe I can finally get this car back on the road. All the work on it hasn't been too expensive (well under $100 in it) but its taking waaay too long lol.No festiva for me ATM...

Well, I don't pay tow trucks, I have a 16' flatbedAnd as for a headache, well I doubt the engine will blow up anyway, but if it does, perfect excuse to put in something else. I've been building this on a budget (only have about $75 in it) I don't have a few hundred bucks to give a machine shop and buy pistions with for a stock engine, I'll just pick up a decent JY B6 and be done with it
Getting my new (used) pistons from Jerry today, so hopefully this project will be back on the road soon.

Well pistons are in and I got the head and VC back on this morning. Not too much left to do on it besides reinstall timing belt (almost brand new, think it went on with the new head) and hook up misc odd and ends, fill the fluid, and crank it. I'm hoping it will give me at least a few thousand more milesNo festiva for me ATM...

Drove the car to work today. No oil out of the dipstick now, runs great and pulls well, but then again it did that before too lol. Did a little breakin last night, now I'm just going easy on it for a bit, won't be delivering pizza in it anytime soon, but driving it to my day job and around town on the weekends. Hopefully it will be a good reliable car for a while longer anywayNo festiva for me ATM...

I hope so! It has pistons from three different motors in it thoughOne original, two from one of Jerry's spares, one from my spare motor lol. At the very least it'll buy me enough time to let wifey drive it while I tear apart the carb and do valve stem seals on Babystiva
