Is it sending you any codes?

Yes, the Check Engine light comes on, but only for a minute or so and goes back off. I don't have a code-reader, and Advance/other stores only check 1996+ automobiles.

        Alrighty.

The new Oxygen Sensor is in! The car feels much better, and doesn't sound so much like a diesel truck anymore. Helped a lot with my high idle, too (without touching the peddle, I was going 0-15+ very quickly just letting off the brake).

Unsure if it's fixed my mileage yet, but I'll be making a 200-ish mile round trip tomorrow (going to a funeral, 4 deaths inside of 3 weeks, 2 of them within 2 days), so we'll answer that question.

Thanks for all the help as of yet, and I'll be reporting in with my mileage as soon I can.

You don't need a code reader. Above the brake booster there are about 4 plugs that appear unused. There is a black plug with a single wire going to it. I used a piece of wire and cramped a spade terminal on one end and a fork terminal on the.other. spade goes into plug, fork wedged into a grounding spot
Turn the key to the on position (not cranking the engine). The check engine light will start flashing the codes. I think 15 is rich and 17 is lean. My light is on occasionally, mileage used to be mid 40's, now 37.5. I'm getting a 17 code and it smells rich.

You'll need to disconnect the battery to clear the codes I believe. Usually 10 minutes works but I like to leave it overnight.

            Whooohooo.

Seems the Oxygen Sensor fixed my problem.

Averaged around 35MPG on our trip yesterday.

Although the Check Engine light still comes on when I idle for a minute or two.

Is this checking with an Ohm meter? Wasn't sure exactly what you meant I needed to use.

I ran seafoam in the gas a few tanks ago.

Are you talking hooking up a vacuum line.to the can?

Cleaning injectors, pull them out and soak? Or can you get a can of cleaner that you disconnect the fuel line and run it off the can?

yes, yes and/or yes. if you want to do the injectors yourself, borrow or rent/purchace a sonic cleaner and devise a way to hold the injector open via a 9v battery and then place in the cleaner with appropriate cleaning agent. just like Lanemeyer did with the HLAs

One of my old bosses had a early Lexus 4 cyl. coupe. He pulled his injectors out before a NFL game and poured fuel injector cleaner like you'd put in your tank into a rattle can lid and set the injectors in it. After the game, reinstalled and it ran like a new car.

Are Aspire injectors the same? Maybe pull a set from PAP and have them cleaned, then install them. Or swap and have mine cleaned and reinstall.

Doesn't fuel system cleaner, poured into the gas tank, do the same job? That's what it's supposed to do. Sez it treats up to 20 gallons, so in a Festy tank it's double strength.

ahh, but sonic cleanig gets into the nooks and crannies that the treated fuel won't normaly reach.

I use the injector cleaner on a quarter tank or less. Techron is the only one worth buying if you are going by the doses you are supposed to. I've soaked just the tips and a lot of gunk comes out into the solvent even on injectors with low miles. You can always add some e85 to your fuel and buy a backup fuel filter, that makes a lot of stuff come out. I'd actually do that then pull the injectors and do them after the stuff goes thru the tank.
