  • Engine / Tranny Rebuild

I plan on rebuilding my festiva engine and transmission if possible. The engine is really high on mileage and the tranny slips out of 1st and won't even go into 5th, i also need a new clutch as well but here it goes.

Tips process or thoughts on rebuilding either of these?

What do i need to rebuild them & where can i find the rebuild kits for each. it's a 90-91 5spd manual festy.

    Please and thanks in advanced.

Honestly, it'd save you a TON of money to just replace them with a lower mileage engine/trans

Personally, if i had any B3 kicking around, i'd sell them for either dirt cheap or give them away for free, and its not likely you could match that price with rebuilding lol

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

The rebuild kit for an aspire tranny is over 300 bucks, with synchro's..those are what cost the most. Your better off swapping for a new engine & transmission. If your interested in a b6 I might know someone selling a few, not sure what the price will be tho.

Okay thanks. Since it won't be a race car ill pursue this no farther. Though I am beginning to understand a little all the engine models and transmission models are confusing me. Any where I can read up on all of them so I know the difference and such?
