When the PO installed the BP in my Festiva, it was mounted a little lower in front so the Festiva speedo will not reach. Yes, I've rerouted it to get the most length but its still about two or three inches too short. The PO claimed that all I needed to do was get a Capri cable because it is longer. Is this true?

Is a Capri speedo cable longer than a Festiva cable?

According to Rockauto, the Capri cable is divided into an upper and a lower half; and they only sell the lower, which is 11". The Festy 5-speed manual cable is 31"; the 4-speed one is 22".Last edited by TominMO; 10-25-2011, 10:20 AM.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

When I got Babystiva it had a 4 foot long cable in it... it looked like it was a kit or something that you cut to size and crimp yourself. It was poorly done though and the end came off when I tried to reroute it. No idea where it came from, but the ends fit like stock, just with a longer cable. May have even been stock ends uncrimped and a new cable installed between them? But you might be able to find something like that, if Aspire or Capri won't work. Protege one should fit I think, but don't know how long it is. I know the speedo end is the same as festiva, not 100% on the trans end, but I think folks use festiva cables on Protege transmissions so the reverse should work as well.No festiva for me ATM...

Protege one should work on a festiva, just talked to a buddy of mine that confirmed at least on his '92 B8 the trans end of the cable is the same as festiva. He didn't measure it though as its still in the car.No festiva for me ATM...

According to Rock Auto, the Aspire cable is also two-piece. It is the same as the 91 Capri (including XR2) and 88-89 Tracer. They sell the lower half only. They do not identify if it's for manual or auto. Maybe they're the same for both trannies?90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods

possible. i know for sure that an Auto festy cable is longer than a manual by about 1.5". the fix for that was a manual cable from a protege (about 3" longer than an auto cable but works just as well).Trees aren't kind to me...
