  • 89 auto fi wount start

First off thanks to everyone who helped on my first thread.

This 89 auto fi will turn over but not start

It has a rebuilt engine and was converted to a man trans at the same time.

Before engine and trans swap was done there was a small bang like a back fire then the car never ran again.

Since my last post I have

checked belt placement all marks line up and rotor but is at number 1

Have good fire new rotor and cap

Have great compression 160 plus on all cyl.

fresh gas and 40 psi at fuel rail allold gas was removed

Noid light lights up on num 1 injector

I have not changed out dist or computer.

Car does not run on starting fluid. even when injected directly thru pvc port.

What could be wroug with the car ?

    Thanks again dh

plugs? check for spark AT the plug. you have good compression and if you have proper spark, you'll run on ether.

The tester lights up or flashes when you connect it to the solenoid? It should flash.

If its flashing, you're getting a signal from the distributor that's being advanced/adjusted by the computer and pulsing a ground to each solenoid.

          ^^^ Yes

if you have access to a known good disty, swap it out and see if it starts.

I agree with FestYboy. Check for spark. Even if your timing is way out, you would still get some firing, especially if you are putting either in the intake. If you have spark then I would check the timing. If there is no spark then I would inspect the cars ignition system.

try moving the rotor also...it can be on in 3 different positions....I saw you checked it....but it is worth a shot just to be positive it is not that.
