Inner tie rod Removal Help.

I pulled the bellows off and it's time for new inner and outer tie rods.

I know they make several different removal tools for both, and i'm wondering what's the best (easiest, cheapest) tool you guys know of for pulling this out..?

also, for a guy without a lift and garage, any links to removal instructions (i have the haynes, but i like fresher pics) would be great!

Are the ball joints for the inner tie rods still firm, or do they flop around? If still firm, don't bother, just stick new boots/bellows on.

The inner and outer tie rods are just threaded on. There is a small roll pin on the inners that you might have to drill out but its small and easy to get out. Just turn the wheel all the way one way and youll see the pin.

Replaced one about a month ago and removed one from an Aspire the other day. Slide off the rubber boot, turn the steering wheel to a spot where you can get a good looksee and then strong-arm the six-sided inner tie rod off with a 24mm wrench. You may also have to hold the steering rack with a pipe wrench. Good luck. Perhaps there is a roll pin but so far I have not had to deal with removing one (either that or they break right away).

so the inner tie rods are totally fine, i'm having
to replace them because the outer tie rods are
pretty much welded shut. took it to have it aligned
and they couldn't even break the end loose.

this is how it looks...


anyways, i grabbed a larger pair of curved
vise-grips, squeezed real real tight, yelled really
loud. then, BAM loose she went. i incurred no
injuries nor did the tie rod or any other part of
the vehicle. haha. thanks for the help though guys!

That's what I do. The loud yelling is definitely the key!
