  • Shift Shaft Seal leaking? What to do?

My shift shaft seal in my five speed transmission is leaking. To replace this seal, does it require me to pull the transmission apart? I ordered one from Advanced Auto, but it wasn't the correct one. Where would you recommend a proper seal that fits?

ok, what store can I get this from? NAPA, Auto Zone, etc? Will I need to pull the tranny to replace the seal?

That's a ford number for a 91 5 speed. High light and right click, choose google search for other brands. If the coupling on the end of the shift shaft is removable you can slide the old one off and install the new one on. If its one piece then the shaft has to be removed after transmission disassembly.. you
might as well get the overhaul kit and put in bearings and seals, not what you wanted to hear!

I didn't see where you posted your car other than manual 5 speed, sorry if I missed it.
