Something must be wrong though, I was averaging over 40 with almost identical driving earlier. I guess my first step is a full rotor/cap/wire/spark plug change.

Ouch. Is there a hole in your tank? I know the feeling going back n forth between the festiva n a gp, I wish I could fill up my tripod. Plus it doesnt help with th speedo cable broke too.

    Runs fine all the time

My first guess is O2 sensor failing. Second guess would be cat getting clogged. Swap the O2 with a new Nippondenso unit, see if that helps.

If the check engine light is not on, then the computer thinks the engine needs the extra fuel. The coolant and air temp sensors if not completely failed can cause this with no check engine light. Slow but not failed o2 can also be a false normal. Might check your odometer just to make sure your math is right!

WHAT GIVES!!!!! I was averaging a hair over 40 in June, and it has been steadily dropping ever since. Click my Fuelly link for the stats.

I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!! Last fill-up was the worst YET, 26 mpg.

Right before it stopped running, it was running better than it ever had in my ownership. Then I finally get it running again.... and it runs fine, but just not quite like it did.... I may even be imagining things, it could be back to the same, I just got used to the Grand Prix's power over those two weeks. I don't know.

So... What should I be looking for?
Working...
