ok let me get this straight.. You upgraded to a cluster with a tach and you say there is no tach wire? or is this an aftermarket tach?

      tach

i have an 89 festiva L that i took out the cluster with no tach but with a shift light , and put in a cluster with a tach in it . there is not a tach wire in my wiring harness. was going to move the shift wire to the to the location where the tach wire belongs in the connector, just need to know where the other in of the shift wire connects to , so i can cut and splice to dist. thanks.

Do a search. Someone posted a pic of where to connect the wire on the coil and where to connect it to the cluster. My 89 had the same problem but I never hooked it up. I only used the cluster for the headlight warning buzzer.

          TACH

I GOT THE TACH WORKING . CUT THE SHIFT LIGHT WIRE AND REMOVED IT FROM THE WHITE CONNECTOR. INSTALLED IT IN THE IN THE BLACK CONNECTOR . SPLICED ONTO THE GREEN WIRE AND RAN IT OUT WITH THE SPEEDOMETER CABLE AND CONNECTED IT TO THE NEG SIDE OF THE COIL. WORKS GRATE. TIME TO RACE. SEE YOU .

I put in a tach cluster this weekend. Used wils article, easy peasy, lemon squeezey. But the headlight buzzer was a cool surprise. All works great, the tach had exactly 3000 miles more on it then the original cluster. Strange, but easy to remember true mileage.
