  • getting frustrated.

so after exploding the E-series, luckily charlie hooked me up with a cable F. i was waiting on clutch money when a "323/MX-3 gripforce clutch kit" popped up for 40 bucks so i picked it up. clutch and PP bolted up to the F-series flywheeel just fine but when i went to slide the throwout bearing on i realized it was incorrect. its the same size as the E-series part. because of my lack of knowledge i just ordered one for a 90 protege assuming it was an F but when i got the part i realized i was wrong once again, too big and attached differently so i assume its for a G-series. i called three different parts stores and got 3 different ID's for the TOB.*i asked for a 91 323 TOB*
    autozone-ID- 1.152
    oreilley-ID- 1.5197
advanced-ID- 190 MM "idk the conversion factor"
can anybody point me in the right direction? i have no measuring tool to measure the "shaft" behind the input shaft or i most likely could have already gotten this figured out. any and all help is VERY MUCH appreciated. i want to get this thing on the road with a strong trans SSSSSOOOOO bad!! im sure some of you guys feel my pain haha! good day, Kaleb.

Most manufactures call it the bearing retainer

At least inthe mustang world they do.

          They were hydro F series

The 190mm is the clutch disk diameter

What the did the transmission come out of? I'm seeing both 1.152 and 1.5197 listed on Rockauto which doesn't make sense to me.

          Get a tape measure & check is it ~1 1/8" or 1 1/2"?

Honestly I'm not sure what it came out of but I'll do my best to find out, I'm gonna stop by napa before I head out to the shop and have them measure the bearing retainer and try to get something figured out. I'll let you guys know what happens of course!!

got the wrong one again, done with napa. our measurements show that the stock TOB has an ID of 1.15", the one on my f is slightly larger, would you guys happen to know if any vehicles had slightly larger bearing retainers than others? i need this freaking thing on the road and forgot to grab my trans for them to measure. any help is very much appreciated as always!!!

edit: forgot to mention, everyone i seem to order has the same ID as the e-series.

Might be worth it to pick up a digital caliper somewhere, Harbor Freight has them for $30 or less and they're pretty damned accurate. Advance carries the same one too but I think it's a little more $$. But that way you can get an exact ID
