  • Need to confirm what drive shafts to get?

    Hi Guys,
    This is my first post.
I've searched for an answer but had no luck.
I'm about to replace both my drive shafts on my '99 Ford Festiva WF Trio 1.3L Manual.
I once had a mechanic change them in Adelaide and they bought the parts for a 1.3l festiva but the shaft was wrong. They had to go back and order a different shaft. I believe they said it was from a mazda engine. Now I believe this to be true because if I shop at repco for say an oil filter. Their books will point me to a small oil filter and nothing else. Where in fact I must look up a Mazda Aspire to find my correct filter.
Now I wish to buy these drive shaft from ebay as the cost is about half then what it would be for me to buy locally in Darwin.
But now I'm worried if I would have the same issue with an ebay seller. Does anyone have advice on maybe model numbers or how I can make sure I'm buying the right parts for my car without using trial and error.

    Thanks in advance
    Alex

I believe your "festiva" is america's aspire. So if you get the aspire parts you should be fine, but someone else will be able to let you know for sure.
1992 white L, Bp, American racing 13's, stock trans.
1991 White L, BP/F5MR, protege header, full aspire swap with gr2's, seats, and sway bar, 15" konig's, short throw, escort console.
    1991 blue L, 5 speed.
    1988 red L-plus-all stock.

I got the wrong ones from Autopartsway.com and had difficutly returning them for a refund. I'd suggest comparing the dimensions in the item description with what you have on the car. I didn't know I had to do that. The ones they sent were longer and the inner splines thicker. I'm pretty sure what they were for a automatic transmission. Their database listed the same part number for manual and automatic. They are not the same. You'll probaby have a problem with make and model. Ebay is in USA. Look up Festiva on Wiki for history and name changes. Good luck.
