  • Headlights quit

This morning, driving to work in the dark, about 12 miles from home I hit the switch for high beams and the headlights go out. Still have dash and parking lights but nothing from the headlights. Pull over, check fusible links-OK, slap the headlight relay-no effect, they never so much as flicker again. Fortunately my driving lights still worked so finish the next 20 miles on them.
Get home tonight and try different relays, no go. The relay is buzzing like a bad ground, but if I run a jumper from the positive battery post to the white wire in the relay plug the headlights come on nice and bright and go between high and low beam just fine.

Anybody have any words of wisdom for this?

Sounds like the hi-lo beam section of the multi switch went bad.

No, when I jumper power to the headlights, they flip between hi/lo just fine with the switch.

Mine did the same thing , my headlight wiring is so missed up its pathetic . I ended up running new wires to a toggle switch . Know its not the right fix but ur not alone .

I mis- read the statement about them flipping with the switch.
