I have been searching for a new gas tank since mine has a bad leak. Some companies show the same tank fits all year Festys, while others show a different tank for 88 and 89 with a carb. Does anyone know if the tanks are different between the years.

88-89 carb tanks are different at the float assembly port than the EFI cars. if you have an EFI car, get and EFI tank OR you can use a 2 door aspire tank as well (same part #).Trees aren't kind to me...

At a glance you can tell by the little vapor line attached to the top drivers side of the tank. Only the efi Festiva tanks.Im not driving a Festiva because I'm poor. I drive a Festiva because i want to!

Also the two door aspire tanks will fit the efi festy.
The main difference is the mount for the fuel pump/sender unit. Some people like to read fiction,I prefer to read repair manuals. Weird I know-

Thanks for clarifying. I dont want to have to modify anything with the tank when replacing. Now to the other problem, the fuel lines are all extremely corrorded. I am afraid to even touch them until i have the new tank. Could the old rusty lines be replaced with hoses instead? Bad idea? Can fuel lines be replaced with new fuel lines similar to when replacing brake lines? I am guessing that Ford no longer carries new fuel lines for the Festiva. I am waiting until the weather warms up a little so I can do this job outside.

Bend your own, do not use copper. You can use fuel hose to join steel together, but
fittings are better. Use the original routing. Use rubber where it was original,

If you use fuel hose and your car is fuel-injected, make sure it's EFI-rated hose, not carb-rated! EFI hose can take the much higher pressures that come with fuel injection. It is significantly more expensive tho.90 Festy (Larry)--B6M (Matt D. modified B6 head), header, 5-speed, Capri XR2 front brakes, many other little mods
