I checked my transmission fluid a few months back and when I pulled the plunger type dipstick out, fluid just shot out all over the engine with some pretty good force. I thought it was probably a freak thing or something so the last time I checked it last week the same thing happened. What up with that?

Ummm I once coated 70 feet of rafters, 5 bays and 3 cars doing that!
Had an interesting conversation with the boss shortly after, his blood
pressure was kinda high..the dipstick was found out in the parking lot!
Use a pipe cleaner or anything but compressed air!!Last edited by Movin; 01-29-2012, 01:30 PM.Reflex paint by Langeman...Lifted...Tow Rig

That screw that was in my vent line is actually a vented plug. I checked my backup trans and it has the same thing. My manual says that overflow is cause by overfilling and possible coolant in the trans (from oil cooler part of radiator).

Mud dobbers can plug those up and the result is overflow out the tube.
If the vent is open and something is wrong causing foaming or overfull,
way over full, it will flow out the vent, not the dipstick tube.Reflex paint by Langeman...Lifted...Tow Rig
